本プロジェクトの目的

本プロジェクトの目的は、日本手話に関する貴重な映像資料を一元的に収集・整理し、学術研究や手話コミュニティの教育・文化継承に活用できるデジタルアーカイブを構築することです。

Purpose of This Project

The purpose of this project is to collect and organize valuable video materials related to Japanese Sign Language in a centralized manner, and to create a digital archive that can be utilized for academic research, as well as for the education and cultural preservation of the sign language community.

収集するデータの種類

  • 既存映像資料：過去に撮影された日本手話の記録映像。
  • 新規収録データ：現存する手話話者の会話や語りを記録した映像。
  • 関連資料：映像データの時代背景を示す資料。
Types of Collected Data

  • Existing Footage: Previously recorded materials of Japanese Sign Language.
  • Newly Recorded Data: Footage capturing conversations or stories from current sign language speakers.
  • Related Materials: Documents providing historical context for the video data.

映像データの整理と管理

  • デジタル化：アナログ映像（８mm、VHS・DVDなど）はデジタル変換し、長期保存可能な形にします。
  • メタデータの付与：映像の撮影年月、話者情報、内容概要などのメタデータを整備し、映像検索ができるようにします。
  • 権利関係の確認：寄贈者・出演者など、映像に関する権利保有者と公開レベルを含む映像の取り扱いについて協議します。
  • 映像の内容の確認：映像の内容を確認し、権利関係の確認内容と合わせて、適切な公開のレベルを決定します。
  • データベース化：映像データをデータベースに登録し、上記の結果に準じた適切な形で公開・管理します。
Organizing and Managing Video Data

  • Digitization: Analog video formats (e.g., 8mm, VHS, DVD) will be converted to digital format for long-term storage.
  • Metadata Assignment: Metadata such as shooting date, speaker information, and content summary will be organized to enable video search.
  • Rights Management: Discussions will take place regarding the handling of video materials with the rights holders, including donors and participants, and the appropriate level of public access.
  • Content Verification: The content of the video will be checked, and in conjunction with rights management, the appropriate level of public access will be determined.
  • Database Registration: The video data will be registered in a database and published and managed in accordance with the above-mentioned guidelines.

  • 一般公開：
    • 1 もっとも広い公開レベル。プロジェクトのウェブサイト上でどなたでもご覧いただけます。
    • 2 利用登録をしていただければどなたにもご覧いただけます。
  • 限定公開：
    • 1 特定の利用目的の場合のみ、インターネット上で閲覧していただけます。
    • 2 特定の利用目的の場合のみ、館内限定で閲覧していただけます。
    • 3 機械処理に利用する場合のみ、データとして利用できます。
  • 非公開・保管のみ：
    • 公開はできませんが、後世に残すためみんぱく内部で保管をします。
Public Access and Utilization of Video Data

  • Public Access:
    • 1. The widest level of access. Available for anyone to view on the project’s website.
    • 2. Available for anyone to view upon registration.
  • Restricted Access:
    • 1. Accessible on the internet only for specific purposes.
    • 2. Accessible only within the museum for specific purposes.
    • 3. Available as data only for machine processing purposes.
  • Private/Storage Only:
    • Not available for public access but will be stored for future generations.

今後の展望

  • 今後は、映像資料のさらなる収集と整理を進めるとともに、他の研究機関や手話コミュニティとの連携により、日本手話に関する学術研究や教育への貢献を目指します。
  • また、AIによる手話解析や映像の自動字幕生成など、新たな活用方法につなげることができればと考えています。手話話者、研究者、関心を持つすべての方々と協力しながら、日本手話の歴史・文化を未来へとつなぎます。
Future Outlook

  • In the future, we will continue to collect and organize video materials, while strengthening collaboration with other research institutions and the sign language community to contribute to academic research and education on Japanese Sign Language.
  • Furthermore, with advancements in technology, we will explore new applications, such as AI-based sign language analysis and automatic subtitle generation for videos.This project is an initiative to connect the history and culture of Japanese Sign Language, a visual language, to the future. We will work together with sign language users, researchers, and all those interested to pass on these valuable video materials to future generations.
